Move With Gratitude

“Gratitude for the present moment and the fullness of life now is the true prosperity” ~Eckart Tolle

November is National Gratitude Month, and with Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, it's hard not to feel the tone of appreciation in the air. More than just saying “thank you” the practice of gratitude positively affects the connection to ourselves and the world around us.

There is a growing wealth of research on the benefits of gratitude practices, one particularly from the Greater Good Science Center at Cal Berkeley who found that practitioners of gratitude have stronger immune systems, lower blood pressure, more joy and happiness, more generous in their giving, and feel less loneliness and isolation. When we feel gratitude regularly it does two things to our brains: first, it activates the hypothalamus which influences stress levels, thus promoting better sleep and decreases depression; second, it activates dopamine, which is the feel good transmitter that assists in forming habits to repeat, therefore activating positive responses over and over.

Expressing gratitude can be as easy as writing down one or two “thankfuls” everyday in your journal, or saying what you are thankful for when sitting at the dinner table with your family. I am personally thankful for the Move With Studio Community. Our clients, teachers, and staff are THE BEST and there isn’t a day that goes by where I do not acknowledge how blessed I am to be a part of it.

With Grace and Ease,

Kelsey
