Introducing Our New Monthly Series: Movement Lab

At Move With Studio, we care deeply about helping people understand their bodies - not just move through exercises.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce a new monthly class series at the studio called Movement Lab.

Movement Lab is a rotating specialty class where our teachers take a deeper look at specific areas of the body and how they support whole-body movement. Each month will focus on a different theme, body region, or movement concept, combining anatomy education with targeted exercises to help you move with greater awareness and strength.

Think of it as a space to slow down, explore, and build a deeper connection with how your body works.

Why We Created Movement Lab

Over the years of teaching, we’ve noticed that many movement challenges trace back to a few key areas in the body that tend to be under-supported or misunderstood.

When one area of the body lacks strength, stability, or coordination, it can often create challenges elsewhere in the body.

For example:

  • Limited shoulder and upper back strength can contribute to neck tension and difficulty supporting body weight in planks.

  • Poor hip stability can lead to knee or low back discomfort.

  • Lack of foot awareness can affect balance, posture, and walking mechanics.

Movement Lab allows us to zoom in on these areas and explore them in a more focused way than we typically can in a regular class.

Each session will combine:

  • simple anatomy insights

  • targeted strengthening

  • mobility work

  • and integrated full-body movement

Our goal is to help you leave not only feeling stronger, but also understanding why certain movements matter and how they support your everyday life.

Our First Movement Lab: Shoulder & Scapular Strength

Our first class in the series will be led by Sonsheree on April 17th at 5pm.

This session will explore the relationship between the shoulders, upper back, and scapula (shoulder blades), and how they support full-body movement.

Many people lack strength in this area, which can lead to:

  • neck tension

  • difficulty supporting body weight in planks

  • shoulder discomfort

  • and compensation patterns that affect the low back and core.

In this class, Sonsheree will guide participants through exercises designed to strengthen the upper back and develop better awareness of how the shoulder blades move and stabilize.

We’ll explore how these muscles support everything from posture to planking, helping you move with more efficiency and confidence.

A Rotating Monthly Series

Movement Lab will take place once a month on Friday afternoons, with a rotating lineup of Move With Studio teachers.

Each month will feature a different focus area, such as:

  • hips and pelvic stability

  • core and midline strength

  • foot mechanics and balance

  • spinal mobility

  • and more.

These classes are designed to complement your regular Pilates practice while giving you a deeper understanding of how your body works.

Who This Class Is For

Movement Lab is perfect for anyone who:

  • wants to understand their body better

  • enjoys learning the “why” behind movement

  • wants to build strength in specific areas

  • or is curious to explore movement in a more focused, educational way.

No prior anatomy knowledge is needed - just curiosity.
