What to Expect During a Scolio-Pilates® Session

Move With Studio Teacher, Rachel Parker, is now offering Scolio-Pilates®, a tailored program to address pain and limitations for people with scoliosis. The Scolio-Pilates® method is an accessible program for managing scoliosis at home or in the studio and is based on the Pilates principles of elongation, breath, and building strength in optimal alignment.

Here’s what you can expect with the 3-Session Package for Scolio-Pilates® :

  • Analysis and mapping of your spine using manual tests, tools and any imaging you bring to the sessions

  • Interpretation and education about what this means in regard to how you feel and move

  • Elongation and breath techniques to create more space and ease in your unique body

  • Easy home exercises to strengthen tissue and muscle around a more neutral alignment

  • Instruction on how to use correctional props and padding

  • Instruction in Scolio-Pilates® machine based exercises on the Reformer, Chair and Trapeze Table

  • Guidance on how to build a future exercise plan with less pain and more strength

“Scolio-Pilates®  helps to educate people about their bodies and how to exercise in the most beneficial way. Many people I have worked with are scared to move because they feel pain and have been told don’t do this and don’t do that by doctors and physical therapists. This program affirms the experience of the scoliosis student and empowers them to move for their spine and overall health.”

~ Rachel Parker
