The Difference Between Megaformer and Pilates
You may have heard about megaformer or “high intensity Pilates” and wondered if they were the same thing as the contemporary Pilates that we offer at Move With Studio. In short: it’s not the same. At Move With, we offer real, contemporary Pilates for every body.
Here are a few differences that make us stand out:
Small class sizes
Our reformer classes are limited to seven, with individual attention and corrections from the instructor. Their classes are larger and less personal.
Training and experience
The majority of our staff has 10+ years of teaching experience, and all of our instructors have completed 500+ hours of training plus continuing education.
Connection to mind and body
In Pilates, we focus on forming a deeper connection to and understanding of the body. The foundation of the Pilates method is rooted in precision, form, and connection to breath. On the other hand, megaformers are used for group fitness with less emphasis on form, alignment, or breath.
Movement for every body
We have a variety of classes to fit all levels of experience and interest, from beginner to high intensity to restorative. We regularly work with clients from their teens through their eighties. Megaformer studios typically have a beginner class and a standard class with less accommodation for a variety of bodies.
